What can be said of John Munro, Mike O’Callaghan and Pete Titchener that hasn’t already been read out in court? Well, they have many things in common – they have all played with internationally renowned band Colcannon, they all own guitars made by Adelaide luthier Bryan De Gruchy, they all have grandchildren and they all wear glasses.
Recognising an opportunity to knock Crosby, Stills and Nash from their pedestal John, Mike and Pete decided to form a trio (duh!) to showcase their collective song-writing and musical skills.
Using 6 and 12 string guitars together with mandolin, octave mandolin and mandola, Munro, O’Callaghan and Titchener create acoustic textures that underpin their vocal harmonies.
Spokesman for the trio Pete Titchener said “Our debut CD will be out as soon as matron gives John permission to stay out late” - Reuters 2010

An Acoustic Peacock Special
Saturday, 18th September 7.30pm: Blackheart (UK)
with support from ex-Tasmanian duo Halfway to Forth
UK folk sensation Blackheart are on their first Australian tour. They are widely regarded as the fastest rising stars of the new folk generation having become established for both their live concerts, their outstanding debut album Indigo and now their brand new CD 'Invisible'.
Their live shows combine the unforgettable lemon and honey voice of Chrissy Mostyn and jaw-dropping acoustic guitar playing of Rick Pilkington with highly entertaining audience interaction as they tell the stories behind their songs.
The last three years have seen them headline their own successful tours across the UK, Scotland and Ireland, a major city tour as guest of Jared Osmond of the famous Osmond family, a TV commercial soundtrack and worldwide radio play including Radio 2 Spotlight Song of the Day twice.
Their songwriting blends folk, country and even rock influences to create a unique style of beautifully crafted, instantly memorable songs that has been christened by the media urban folk. Their highly personal songs paint pictures of their lives with subjects such as hometowns, marriage, faith, redundancy, bereavement and even suicide all being treated with the sensitive, intellectual lyrical observation that is becoming the trademark of their work." Check them out at:
